The sterilizer is made of stainless steel AISI 316 and is therefore primarily intended for private pools where salt electrolysis is not used for water disinfection.
More about stainless steel can be found here: TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS for stainless/corrosion-resistant AISI steel
Disinfection by ultraviolet irradiation is among the technologies that are increasingly used for improving the quality of drinking and pool water treatment. The principle of disinfection involves the photochemical damage of RNA and DNA, proteins, enzymes, or other biologically significant macromolecules.
The efficacy of disinfection depends on the dose of UV irradiation, the type of UV lamp used, and their arrangement in relation to the direction of flow of drinking water or pool water. To select the appropriate type of UV equipment, it is necessary to determine and ensure the required dose of UV irradiation, which depends on the flow rate and water quality in terms of its permeability, i.e. the concentration and type of dissolved and undissolved substances that affect the reflection and absorption of UV irradiation.
Low-pressure monochromatic UV lamps emit UV irradiation at a wavelength of 254 nm, the intensity of the emitted UV energy is only at one level and is strongly dependent on the temperature of the treated water and the flow rate value. As a result, this type of low-pressure UV lamp has only germicidal effects.
The possibility of combining UV irradiation with other treatment technologies leads to achieving high water quality. The advantage is the reduction of operating requirements, i.e. savings in dosed chemicals, and safe and easy operation in automatic mode. The disadvantage is the possibility of secondary contamination, so UV irradiation alone should not be used for hygienic protection. In practice, it is therefore combined, for example, with chlorination.
Model | Max. flow rate | Intensity of irradiation | Number of UV lamps: power | Connection DN | Unit length |
16W/15 m3 | 23 m3/h | 30 mJ/cm2 | 1 x 16 W | D63-50 mm | 560 mm |
- The lamp is hermetically sealed in a housing
- UV irradiation is lethal to the absolute majority of organisms. We use it to destroy algae, parasites, fungi, viruses, yeasts, and bacteria present in the water
- Lamp lifespan up to 9,000 hours
