How to choose an infrared sauna - a solution for health, relaxation and fun

We are increasingly taking care of our health. Our bodies are subjected to strong pressures and demands from an active, often hectic, lifestyle. In the fight against many civilization-related diseases, doctors advise regularly relaxing, detoxifying the body, and increasing its immune system. Appropriate relaxation and regeneration are gaining importance. Regular stays in the sauna are one of its most sought-after forms.

HOW DOES AN INFRARED SAUNA WORK?

The human body is intensely heated in an infrared sauna by infrared rays, similar to those emitted by the Sun but without harmful UV radiation. The very rapid heating of the infrared sauna (operating temperatures up to 60°C are reached in 10-15 minutes) is ensured by infrared ceramic or carbon heaters at 230 V. This safe technology can also be found, among other places, in neonatal incubators. Infrared saunas do not create steam and do not burden their surroundings with high temperatures. They do not require any special ventilation for operation; natural air circulation is sufficient. They are energy-efficient

HOW DOES THE PROCEDURE IN AN INFRARED SAUNA WORK?

In an infrared sauna, the temperature typically ranges between 40–60 °C. You spend about 45 minutes in it, and then you cool down in lukewarm water or you may choose not to cool down at all. The procedure is usually done without repetition. At lower temperatures (around 30 °C), infrared saunas can be used to warm up before exercise, while at higher temperatures they can be used for relaxation, toughening up, detoxification, and more. With a doctor's approval, individuals for whom staying in the higher temperatures of a Finnish sauna may not be suitable can also use an infrared sauna. Unlike Finnish saunas, you can indulge in relaxation in an infrared sauna every day if you wish.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE AN INFRARED SAUNA?

You can easily place an infrared sauna from our offer (models for 1-4 persons) in any temperate interior, including small apartments (bedroom, bathroom, home gym, conservatory). You can install and set up smaller models with a simple modular system in about an hour. The entire system of heaters, control panel, and other electronic equipment can be connected to a single electrical outlet. For most models, the doors can be rotated to the right or left, allowing you to better adapt the infrared sauna to the layout of the interior.

WHAT KIND OF WOOD ARE INFRARED SAUNAS MADE OF?

The ideal material for manufacturing modern infrared saunas is Canadian Hemlock (or Tsuga). Its wood stands out for its strength and beautiful pattern of fine texture. Unlike other conifers, it does not twist, and it is free from knots and resin. Additionally, it naturally inhibits the formation of unwanted microorganisms.

For some models, elegant cabin cladding is made of MDF boards. This material is produced by breaking down wood into fibers and subsequently bonding them using resin and lignin. The material is then pressed into sheets under high pressure and temperature, which are covered with a washable laminate with a natural wood decor.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HEATERS?

Light ceramic heaters reach the maximum temperature in the infrared sauna the fastest. They are made of tubes of silica glass, which, in addition to intense radiant heat, also emit light, further enhancing the beneficial therapeutic effects. They have a surface temperature of 300–500 °C and are equipped with a protective grid. They have a lifespan of up to 8,000 operational hours (sauna use 3 times a week for 45 minutes = about 60 years).

Ceramic heaters reach the maximum temperature in the infrared sauna very quickly. They have a surface temperature of 250–300 °C and are equipped with a protective grid. They have a lifespan of up to 8,000 operational hours (sauna use 3 times a week for 45 minutes = about 60 years).

Carbon heaters reach the maximum temperature in the infrared sauna more slowly, but their distribution of infrared rays is the most even and efficient. They are made of thin carbon strips. They have a surface temperature of 70–170 °C. They have a lifespan of up to 12,000 operational hours (sauna use 3 times a week for 45 minutes = about 90 years).

WHAT IS LIGHT THERAPY?

Some models of our infrared saunas are equipped with so-called chromotherapy. Inside the cabin, you can choose the tone of colored lighting to fine-tune the atmosphere according to your mood. And why therapy? Each color affects our psyche; it refreshes, invigorates, or conversely, calms it down, and at the same time, it has a significant impact on our physical energy. For example, yellow activates us, green harmonizes, orange induces a sense of security and joy, white charges us with energy, blue soothes, purple helps with insomnia, and red alleviates depression.

WHAT IS THE IONIZER FOR?

The ionizer, included in some models of infrared saunas, enriches the air in the cabin with negatively charged ions. This creates an atmosphere of freshness and purity similar to the air in high mountains or by the sea. The ionizer also effectively eliminates microorganisms and has a positive effect on the human body.

WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW BEFORE SAUNA SESSION?

After a sauna session, it is recommended to allocate some time for relaxation. While being in the sauna can calm and release tension, it's not advisable for those who are extremely mentally or physically exhausted. Ideally, leave about 2 hours between a substantial meal and sauna, and don't go into the sauna either overly full or hungry. Finnish saunas are not suitable for individuals with cardiovascular disorders (infrared saunas can be used at lower temperatures with a doctor's approval). Do not enter the sauna under the influence of alcohol, nor consume it during the session. Instead, make sure to stay well-hydrated before and after the procedure. Use a towel or robe as a barrier; the benches should not come into direct contact with your skin.

HOW CAN YOU ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE?

Adding aromatic essences from essential oils to your sauna session brings an extra dimension to relaxation. Aromatherapy strengthens both mental and physical balance, has a beneficial effect on hormones, and supports the functioning of the human body. Apply the solution with water to a bowl in the infrared sauna or pour it onto the heated lava stones in the Finnish sauna. Experiment and combine scents for refreshment, relaxation, and calming effects. You can choose from scents like orange, spruce, honey, or eucalyptus. Select from our range of essences packaged in 50 ml bottles with a convenient dispenser. We also offer wellness cosmetics to enhance the sauna experience, especially for skin quality (hydrating glycerin cream, softening honey cream, exfoliating salt). Explore our sauna accessories.

HOW TO MAINTAIN A SAUNA?

For a full and enjoyable sauna experience in a clean and hygienically treated cabin free from bacteria, we recommend regularly treating and disinfecting the sauna interior with special products from our range. Beyond cleaning, the use of paraffin oil helps maintain the surface's lasting appearance and impregnation. We also emphasize the importance of thoroughly cleaning accessories and equipment. Proper ventilation of the sauna prevents the proliferation of bacteria in a humid environment.
