How to properly measure a pool cushion?

The key to success when buying a pool cushion is its proper measurement. In this article, you will find a guide on how to accurately measure a pool cushion for any pool.

Standard Pool Cushion - Measurement

Measure the inner dimensions of the pool, maximum width/maximum length (or diameter). The provided cushion dimensions will be increased by 3% + 30cm during production (due to the shrinkage of the cover when inflated and the circumferential collar). Standard cushions come with a 7 cm wide collar around the perimeter. For a custom-made cushion, simply provide the inner dimensions of the pool. These dimensions will be increased by 3% and an additional 30 cm (including the collar) will be added during production.

What will be the final size of the produced cushion?

For example, if you enter the dimensions of the cushion as 7 x 3.5m, the overall size of the manufactured cushion including the collar will be 7.51 x 3.9m.

Please note, the increase in size by 3% + 30 cm cannot be considered as a larger cushion size. This 3% + 30 cm is indeed used for deformation during cushion inflation and anchoring.

The standard design of the cushion is suitable for pools with steel walls, or plastic and concrete pools without a ledge. If you have a ledge or pavement around the pool, then a cushion with a larger overlap is more suitable - see the measurement description below.

Pool Cushion with Overhang - Measurement

If you want to cover the pool edge, or any other pool feature, with the cushion, you'll need to order a larger cushion with an overhang. Add the necessary overhang to both the width and length of the inner pool dimensions.

The provided cushion dimensions will be increased by 3% + 30 cm during production (due to the shrinkage of the cover when inflated and the circumferential collar). Supplied cushions are always equipped with a 7 cm wide collar around the entire perimeter.

The resulting size of the produced cushion with overhang and the 3% + 30 cm increase will be:

Example:

Pool has inner dimensions of 7 x 3.5 m.

The pool edge is 30 cm (on each side).

The total area size you need to cover is 7.6 x 4.1 m (this is the cushion size you will order).

The resulting production size of the cushion will be:

Length: 7.6 m + 0.23 m (3% increase) + 0.3 m (including 7 cm collar all around) = 8.13 m

Width: 4.1 m + 0.12 m (3% increase) + 0.3 m (including 7 cm collar all around) = 4.52 m

Please note, the increase in size by 3% + 30 cm cannot be considered as a larger cushion size. This 3% + 30 cm is indeed used for deformation during cushion inflation and anchoring.
